We had no idea what to expect when we boarded the pangas (Zodiac shuttles) that would take us to the Evolution, our home for the week. Honestly, for all the planning I personally put into this portion of our trip, the Evolution could have been anything from the sailing ship Darwin came over on to that fishing trawler that sinks at the end of A Perfect Storm. But she was lovely.
There were about thirty passengers, and half as many crew, and two wonderful naturalist guides, all mixed together for a week of fun and discovery and cut-throat dice games and a never-ending array of different towel animals in our cabins each day.
I’d love to show you more pictures of the gang, but we were too busy having fun, eating ourselves silly, napping and editing animal photos to take many pics onboard.
Shout out to my Evolution peeps: if any of you have footage from our awesome Equator-crossing initiation, please send ‘em my way!
