From our trip to the Yorkshire Dales to the winding backroads of the Lake District, we had a lovely time meeting the sheep of Northern England.

• Our James Herriott pilgrimage, including Hawes, the small Yorkshire town that served as our home base.

• Alf Wight’s (the real James Herriott) veterinary practice, now a museum.

• An awesome 13-mile hike we did with the kids through the Dales. It took us weeks to clean the sheep poop off our shoes!

• An all-too-brief jaunt through the Lake District, in all its aggresively quaint glory.
