If you know the Tachners, then you know that we have two canine family members who are not showing up in our photos on the road.
I did, briefly, consider putting Brenda in a hat and raincoat and training her to walk on two legs, but gave that fantasy up when I realized I couldn’t get her a passport without committing some kind of federal crime, which I had not problem with but Adam vetoed, go figure.
So, Plan B: we’d find foster homes for the year. Yes, I said homes. Our dogs are big. Like, big enough that you really notice them around. And it’s hard to find someone willing to take on one big, goofy goldendoodle for a year, let alone two. Our best option was to split them up to make it easier for everyone.
Hershey is pending the year with Christine’s mom, living his lifelong dream of having All.The.Attention. He’s enjoying frequent trips to the dog park, and getting spoiled by his grandmother, who is doubtless lavishing all her considerable spoiling talents on him (no judgment, mom! ;-)
Brenda is channeling her inner Perry the Platypus at the home of some dear friends, living the life of an international dog of mystery along with her foster brother, a mini-me named Fenway. Click here for an awesome movie of her adventures so far.
So far, reports from both Tachner dogs show a decided lack of missing their family of origin. Go figure!
