We are the Tachner family—

nice to meet you!

Sunrise, Angkor Wat. The kids don’t usually like waking up early, but even they agreed this was worth it.

We’re dad Adam, mom Christine, and our three kids, whose names I’m holding back until they’re through their t(w)een years and decide whether or not to publicly own up to being related to us.

As of this trip, they include our eldest, a daughter whom we’ll call 5-Star, or Her Highness. She loves the fancy life, or thinks she does. Sadly for her, she doesn’t get the chance to experience la dolce vita too often on this trip, but she’s been a trooper. Mostly.

Our middle child, a boy, we’ll call the Monkey in the Middle, or his preferred alias, Jeff (don’t ask). If you ask him, he will tell you he’d rather not be on this trip around the world, but as he’s currently going through puberty, I think he’d probably say that about pretty much anything that requires him to take a yearlong break from Fortnite. Oh yes, we did.

Our third and youngest is another daughter. We’ll call her Little. She’s happy anywhere as long as she can practice her art, read Harry Potter, and sample the local sweets.

Not pictured are our two dogs, and our two moms: the family we left behind. Thanks for understanding when we said we had this crazy idea. We miss you guys!
